[Event] Conversation with the Artist: "What is life like being a Hong Kong person living abroad"

In recent years, many Hong Kong people have relocated overseas. In this Zoom Meeting, Flo will share “What is life like being a Hong Kong person living abroad”

She will discuss these topics: 

• What is her journey of living in a different culture as the minority her community
• How to maintain relationships with friends and family back home and build new ones
• What to do when homesick? Tips to stay connected
  

Whether you are currently living overseas away from Hong Kong (or your original home country) OR you are thinking about moving somewhere else. This is a great event to explore the reality of living in a different country outside of your origin. 

About the Storyteller

Flo is the artist of Fusion Spark by Flo. She is born and raised in Hong Kong and moved to America after she got married in 2015. She lived in Minnesota with her extended family and roadtripped across America with her husband. Flo had to learn how to establish herself as an immigrant. She went from working in a professional setting in Hong Kong to being a cashier in the U.S., to receiving a job offer to move to Maui, Hawaii, and eventually running her own business. From being very self-conscious of her Asian identity and ethnicity to gradually building up her confidence and finding a new sense of home. She found herself juggling between being a Hongkonger and an American. Over the years of living in the U.S., she has develop cultural adaptability and came to appreciate both her own heritage and the new. 

She designed Fusion Spark products to introduce foreign friends about Hong Kong culture while celebrating things she loves about Hong Kong and bridge the gap between expats and locals. Flo is currently preparing her upcoming debut non-fiction graphic memoir about an immigrant's love, travel, and identity in America. She has moved back to Hong Kong, coming in full circle.
